From Fidele Menavanza, Chief Compliance & Global Operations Officer:
“Over the past few years, the M23 rebel group has fought the Congolese army and won control of territory to the north and west of Goma. It is estimated that more than 100,000 refugees have poured into Goma. This rebel action continues to cut Goma off, including from where they normally get food. As a result, they have been shipping in basic food supplies at a price that is triple what it was. Even our own staff are struggling to find food to feed their families.”
